Reforming California's electoral system isn't going to happen overnight. It's a big lift and the major parties have little interest in pursuing an electoral reform that distributes political power fairly. So if we want a multi-party democracy, we're going to have to do the lifting ourselves.
Fortunately, we're not alone. ProRep is building a diverse coalition of politcal parties, academics, advocacy organizations, and engaged activists intent on bringing proportional representation to California's State Legislature.

ProRep's Four-Step Theory of Change
Build our Coalition
For decades, parties and organizations scattered across the political spectrum have struggled to represent like-minded voters and champion popular policy proposals. Our goal is to bring together the first coalition of underrepresented groups to rally behind a systemic reform that will amplify voter’s voices and finally create an inclusive democracy.
Educate Californians about Proportional Representation
To generate real change we need to raise awareness about how the inequities and failures in California's current electoral system impact our daily lives. ProRep aims to engage and educate Californians about the critical need for improved representation by creating accessible, easily understandable content and distributing it through social media and our coalition partners.
Build Support for a Ballot Initiative
Through ballot initiatives, California allows citizens to propose laws and constitutional amendments without the support of the Governor or the Legislature. We believe that democratic reforms should be arrived at democratically, so in collaboration with our coalition partners, we're going to create a movement for a ballot initiative that will bring proportional representation to the State Legislature.
Achieve True Representation
Whether addressing climate change, preventing government overreach, campaigning for equitable healthcare, or preserving personal freedom: Californians are constantly presenting innovative policy ideas that fail to be recognized in the Legislature.
Proportional Representation enables a multifaceted, solution-oriented debate on the pressing issues in our lives, gives every citizen an equal voice,
and an equal vote.
